DC Pride Fest June 13

As you may know Gay Pride is June 12th and 13th this year. The parade will be held as always, on Saturday evening and this year, since we've never had a lot of enthusiasm for a PTers marching contingent, AARP’s GLTB group has invited us to join in with them in the parade. AARP member or not, you're welcome to join us...

The theme for year's Capital Pride is "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" with many exciting events taking place the week of June 4-13. A major one is the street festival on Sunday, June13 from 11am to 6pm. Over 250,000 people attend this annual event from across the country and around the globe. It's quite a sight to see!

Volunteers Needed

Our organization has been exhibiting at the festival for over ten years. The consensus, from those who have volunteered to staff our booth in the past, seems to be that it is a great way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon. The abundance of eye candy alone will surely make it worth your time. Specific time commitments, for example two hours or more, would be ideal to insure that the booth is staffed throughout the day. However, letting me know that you plan to stop by sometime during the day would also be appreciated. Of course, socializing is a major part of your participation, however please keep in mind our number one priority is to increase awareness of our activities and help grow our membership which is currently 110 strong. The job description is simple: Must be willing to interact with attendees. The booth is covered and we will have four folding chairs and a table. Bringing canvas telescope chairs is encouraged. Bottled water will be provided. The booth location can be obtained at the Capital Pride Information booth at the 7th Street and Pennsylvania Ave. entrance.
