Prime Timers of DC at SAGE Conference.
We are currently planning on at least three of us going to the SAGE Conference and we would like to present a workshop on the issues of “Elders Coming Out”. In order to get some accurate information about the attitudes, views and opinions of our members we are going to send out an anonymous survey soon to all our Prime Timer members in DC. We are also working with a professor of sociology who is willing to help us on compiling the data so we can have a basis for a good workshop at the conference. I hope you will take this survey seriously and fill it out and send it in to help us.
Coming up!
Capitol Gay Pride 08 will take place again this year on Sunday, June 15th. Per tradition, Prime Timers of DC will host a booth to let people know more about our club. Bill is the coordinator and would love to have guys sign-up in advance to help with set up, clean-up and “man” the booth during the day. The festival goes from 9am -5pm and is held on Pennsylvania Ave starting at the National Archives and going down the avenue to the Canadian Embassy. Give him a call at 703-671-2454 or BLathamNoVA@aol.com.

The Clock is Ticking. Over the next quarter century, the number of seniors in America is projected to grow geometrically from 12% to 20% of the total population. Since 6-8% of these individuals are likely to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT), by the year 2030, LGBT seniors age 65 and above are expected jump from 2.5 million to as many as 4.7 million. The current generation of LGBT seniors differs from their heterosexual counterparts in profound ways:
Twice as likely to live alone
Half as likely to have life partners or significant others
Half as likely to have no close relatives to call for help; and
Four times less likely to have children to help them.
